Patti Hellman
Youth Engagement Coordinator

Patti Hellman, Youth Engagement Coordinator

Patti is the Campus Corps member in our office who works to set up the projects that YVC does each month, as well as getting YVC’s name out to the youth. Patti is originally from Chinook, Montana and moved to Billings four years ago to pursue a degree at MSUBillings and she is graduating this coming April. She loves to volunteer, spend time with family and friends, traveling, and reading books. She became the coordinator for YVC projects through finding out about the Campus Corps position through being active in MSUBillings’ Student United Way organization on campus and wanted to be able to share her enthusiasm for volunteering with youth. Patti’s most favorable volunteer moment was when she went on two service trips, one to San Diego and Tijuana and the other to Guatemala, where she volunteered at orphanages and with the poverty population in San Diego. These experiences opened her eyes to a different light and she became grateful for things she has in her life.

MEET THE TEAM LEADERS

These introductions are meant for the youth to be able to get to know the individuals who will be supervising alongside Nathan and Patti at every project as long as their schedules permit and so the youth can recognize a face when you show up to a project. They are mainly there to help out with projects that may provide extra assistance in watching over the youth and to interact with the youth.

Jacob Pertuit
Team Leader

Jacob Pertuit, Team Leader

Jacob is originally from Billings and has traveled around a lot but loves what Montana has to offer so this where he decided to stay and raise his family. He works as a Prevention Health Specialist at RiverStone Health where he is in the schools quite a bit running clubs that focus on healthy lifestyle choices such as physical activity, positive social involvement in the community, and drug free commitments. Jacob graduated from MSUBillings with a degree in Health and Human Performance with a Teaching Option, which is basically to be a PE teacher. Jacob enjoys playing and assisting with a variety of sports and loves the outdoors like camping, fishing, hiking and basically anything that keeps him physically active. Jacob also volunteers at his local church where he helps teach middle school youth group as well. His passion lies with being able to help youth make a positive impact in the world and have fun doing so.  He became a team leader to help youth in his community realize the opportunities available to them and assist them in giving back to others. Jacob’s favorite volunteer memory was when Nathan and him were stuffing YVC’s skinny Santa for the Holiday Carnival and a little girl walked into the closet they were using and asked what they were doing to Santa.

Tana Tchida
Team Leader

Tana Tchida, Team Leader

Tana is originally from Havre, Montana and is a Spanish Education major at MSUBillings. This semester she will be studying abroad in Spain, so she won’t be able to attend projects, but we wish her the best on this life experience. While she is in Spain, she will be taking classes, living with a host family, traveling and experience a lot. Tana enjoys running/exercising, dancing, snowboarding, and anything else outside and adventurous. She became a team leader because along with all of her other hobbies, she loves volunteering! She is a member of MSUBillings’ Student United Way and that was her catalyst to her involvement with YVC, thanks to Patti! Her favorite volunteer memory, well actually two, is when she was a big sister to a 10 year old girl when she lived in Minot, ND. It was so much fun to hang out with her and do activities once a week. My second one is the Salvation Army Community Table, through MSUB’s Night on the Van collaboration with them. It is an eye opening experience where you ride a van and serve meals to lower income parts of Billings, truly life changing! I encourage everyone to try and get involved.

Taelyne Norris
Team Leader

Taelyne Norris, Team Leader

Taelyne is originally from Billings and attended MSUBillings for their automotive program and later went to Wyotech, which is where she graduated with a degree in Automotive and Street Rod Technology. Family is everything to Taelyne, so she loves spending time with them as well as with friends, but she also enjoys staying active with hiking, running, and taking care of all of her pets. When she gets a chance, she also loves to travel and read. She wanted to become a team leader for YVC because it was a perfect opportunity to work with youth that will one day have a huge impact in the world and get to volunteer with various outlets in the Yellowstone County. Her favorite volunteer memory was when YVC volunteered at B.A.R.K., because she couldn’t help but feel the passion from the coordinator there and seeing it impact all of the volunteers. Taelyne hopes to spread the joy and fulfillment she receives from volunteering with as many people as possible because she loves the feeling of receiving, or better yet, giving a simple act of kindness.
