The Painters!
On a sunny Monday morning, a fresh batch of YVC volunteers descended on Montana Rescue Mission’s Women’s and Family Shelter. We spent some time the first day getting acquainted with the shelter and the site for the new MRM bargain center. After that we dove right in! Half the group took a crash course on sewing. We soon mastered bobbins, seam rippers, pin cushions, scissors, and measuring. The goal of our hard work was to create curtains to hang in the rooms of the shelter where there were previously thin blankets or nothing. The other half of the group trekked over to the site of the new bargain center and went to work. Paint was scraped off the floor in some places, with lots of elbow grease involved. We soon had two rooms finished with fresh coats of bright white paint. The last day of our project we hosted “Misson’s Got Talent”. Our volunteers and the residents of the shelter got a chance to show off a variety of talents.
